Pants

As it gets colder this fall we are really appreciating Ellie wearing pants with a waist. A little thing for most people but when she was smaller pants weren't an option since they would go right over her ostomy and make the bag fall off. Overalls or a dress with Baby Legs were good for a while but were tight on her legs and would leave rings when she wore them last year.

This year she is big enough that the ostomy bag rides under the waistband and doesn't dislodge anything. A big change for us and a new world for Ellie, who thinks that dropping trow in the living room is great fun...

Fortunately her grandmother has been supporting this new bit of fun and Ellie has all sorts of fashinable styles for this fall. There is always a onesie underneath to pin her central line and keep her from playing with her plumbing but pant make life a lot easier and may even lead us towards the potty again after a nine monnth layoff.

Oh the problems with pants! Jenna couldn't wear them until this year (unless Gramma or Auntie seriously altered them) because she had no but or hips to keep them up. Coveralls were our reliable standby with dresses a close second.

We were all thrilled when pants were added to the wardrobe.

Happy pants party Ellie! You deserve it!

P.S. LOVE those curls!

She is the biggest ham ever! Look at that smile and the balancing on the little drum. YAY for pants Ellie!

Well it makes me glad to hear we are not the ONLY ones with an ostomy and feeding tube induced "pants problem"!!!! Eithene still can't do them this year (as I have found after a few determined attempts) and let me tell you its been TOUGH to get a winter wardrobe together for her!

I make my own babylegs for her to use under dresses, but I find its still hard to keep her warm enough (she has serious body temp regulation issues) and for some reason one piece snap up the front pant outfits are not in style this year! Oy, the aggravation!

I am glad Ellie has conquered the "pants milestone" and can't wait until we do the same!

By the way- WOW- on no tube feeds during the day. No question about it, Ellie is really amazing, and so are both of you!

I wish I could fit into my pants!! These days I don't fit into anything but Warren's clothes. I am also a coveralls fan--but I am certain Ellie looks much cuter in hers! Glad to see you all are doing so well. I swear that kid must be 5 feet tall already--wherever would she get such height from...
